Before my time at Deep Roots, I was responsible for the international division of a fast-growing tech company. There I learned how essential it is to tightly align commercial strategy and execution, and how often that goes wrong.
My strength? Quickly identifying where things are off track, bringing structure and focus, and guiding businesses to make bold yet practical decisions they can actually implement. My strength lies in translating strategy into an approach that is actionable for marketing and sales teams.

I am someone who likes to understand why something works or doesn't work. During my study, I already noticed that many marketing models are well thought-out but rarely applied. I saw this in practice: as a freelance online marketer, I helped dozens of SMEs with campaigns, content and visibility.

Frequently, I ran into the same thing. The strategy wasn't right. Or worse: it wasn't there. What I prefer to do? Getting the basics right. Help determine what you stand for as a company, who you are there for and how you make choices that suit you. And translate that into a plan that people understand, can execute and stick with.

From shared vision to strategic growth partner

Laying the foundation

While still in university, we worked on various projects in strategy, positioning, and market research. Both in and outside classes, our shared interest grows: why does one company grow while another doesn't? The seed for Deep Roots is planted.

Learning through experience

While Stef works as a freelance marketer for more than 50 clients, Gard builds up the international division of a fast-growing tech company, where he's responsible for strategy, marketing and sales. From different perspectives, we see the same thing: companies want to grow, but lack a clear compass. Everyone is busy, but often without a plan, alignment or strategic foundation.

Getting started as an agency

We launched a marketing agency and delivered a wide range of projects. From campaigns and websites to social media and email marketing. One thing kept standing out: businesses were chasing growth, but lacked structure. Positioning was vague, plans stayed surface-level, and decisions lacked foundation. That observation changed our direction. We no longer wanted to run campaigns. We wanted to help companies make the right choices.

The sprouting of Deep Roots

What began as a mindset shift now gets a new name. We decide to focus entirely on strategy and building a foundation that everything rests on. Deep Roots symbolises our long collaboration, but especially the way we look at companies. A company is like a tree. Without strong roots, your strategy, positioning, and customer insight - it won’t stand tall when the winds of change come, and your tree will blow over.
